Maku Tree, The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons

The Maku Tree is an important character in The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons, being a large tree who watches over Din from a grove north of eastern Horon Village. With his advanced age, he has become very sleepy most of the time, which is compounded when the Temple of Seasons and Essences of Nature go missing, causing him to wither. Waking him up requires hitting his "nose bubble" sleep effect with an item, popping it. To visit him for the first time, Link needs to show the gate to him the Wooden Sword, taken from the Hero's Cave in an unlinked game and already on hand in a linked one. He gives Link the Gnarled Key and continues giving hints for finding essences he sees in his dreams. As Link collects more essences, the Maku Tree regains size and strength, eventually becoming able to make the Huge Maku Seed that allows Link to enter the Northern Peak. As he grows, Link can go into the hollow in him to meet Farore and climb up his trunk to find various Fairy Fountains and occasional Gasha Seeds.

At the end of an unlinked game, he is shown being awakened by Maple when she accidentally crashes into his nose-bubble while Sokra sings and Link and Din dance. In a linked game, he rescues Link and Princess Zelda from the crumbling Room of Rites.
