Subterror is the miniboss of Moonlit Grotto in The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages, appearing as a giant blue mole with a drill for a nose. Being a mole, it spends most of its time burrowing, with its position being marked by lumps of sand as it pursues Link. Subterror has only one attack, which is to spear its drill up through the surface when near Link. To damage Subterror, Link needs to first use the shovel while is is burrowing after him to force it aboveground, at which point it will become vulnerable and attempt to flee, eventually burrowing back under and starting the process over. After enough damage, Subterror explodes.
