Moths are large-winged insects associated with dark areas, though are themselves attracted to light.
History[edit]
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask[edit]
In The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, large moths appear in some areas of Woodfall Temple, normally flying around lit torches in large groups. If Link lights a Deku Stick with the fire, they will begin pursuing him and causing damage, making them a nuisance. They are also attracted to the fire of a lit bomb or other explosive, which immediately kills the entire swarm upon blowing up. Moths also appear as one of the two types of Odolwa's insect minions, with him summoning large swarms of them to pursue Link. If Link does not defeat them himself, they will be destroyed the next time Odolwa conjures a ring of fire, as they will be attracted to it and burn up.
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages[edit]
In The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages, large moths are spawned in groups of four by Shadow Hag. While they fly after Link, they are very slow, only deal a quarter heart of damage, can be beaten in one attack, and fade away after a few moments even if left alone. Their main purpose is instead to distract Link so Shadow Hag can sneak up behind him.
