Gongoron, The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass

Dongorongo, Armored Lizard is a giant ankylosaurus-like Dodongo fought as the boss of the Goron Temple in The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. Depending on player choice, it is either the fifth or sixth boss, along with Gleeok.

Once Link enters the room it is fought it, it walks up and roars. Ciela points out it is across a pit of quicksand, but Gongoron appears and tells Link he will help to defeat it. First, Dongorongo will fire groups of three fireballs at Gongoron, occasionally charging towards him. While this is happening, Eye Slugs will burrow from the ground attack Link, and as such the player will need to switch back and forth frequently if they do not defeat the Eye Slugs when they first appear. Gongoron cannot effectively attack Dongorongo from the front due to its plates; instead, he needs to repeatedly attack its side after it charges, eventually knocking it over and stunning it. From here, Link must guide a Bombchu into its open mouth to damage it. This process must be repeated twice, though Eye Slugs show up more frequently each time.

Once the third Bombchu has been fed to him, he falls over, unconscious, the door to the Crimsonine opens, and a bridge over the quicksand appears. Gongoron runs ahead to get it, but once Link crosses the bridge, it sinks again while the door closes. Not defeated yet, Dongorongo gets back up, now fighting against Link alone. It shakes until a large blue lump breaks through its back plates, this now being its weak point. It will now be accompanied by a single Eye Slug at a time. In addition to its previous attacks, it now will charge up a long stream of fire, which it blows for several seconds while constantly turning to face Link. Link needs to throw a bomb or Bomb Flower into its mouth when it inhales, knocking it onto its side. Link can then use his sword on the lump. After several hits, Dongorongo will get back up. The process will need repeated, and after several more hits, Dongorongo will be defeated for real. It turns into Sand of Hours for the Phantom Hourglass, adding two minutes, and the door and bridge passages reopen.
