Gongoron, The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass

Gongoron is a young Goron from The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. He is the son of Biggoron and notably one of the few characters in the series to be playable alongside Link.

When Link first travels to Goron Island, Gongoron simply introduces himself and his father to Link. After Link passes Biggoron's quiz and thus is admitted to the tribe, Gongoron resents Link's admission, repeatedly addressing him as "Never-Goron." After Biggoron requests Gongoron show Link the way to the Goron Temple, he spitefully leads Link around the wrong way before going the proper way and repeatedly mocking him, which Biggoron takes to mean they are playing hide-and-seek. Midway to the temple, Gongoron suddenly disappears, having seemingly sped ahead.

Partway through the temple, Link finds Gongoron trapped in a small room. Apologetic for how he previously acted, Gongoron reveals that he was knocked out by monsters and locked inside. Suddenly one of the monsters, an Eye Brute, ambushes Link. Once Link defeats it, a doorway on Gongoron's cell opens up, non-connected to the room Link is in. From here, the player may switch between the two by tapping an icon on the screen. When Gongoron walks, he begins rolling after building up sufficient speed, and continues getting faster. When fast enough, he can defeat enemies and jump over gaps just by rolling over them. Additionally, tapping enemies will cause him to roll quickly into them regardless of his current state. Link and Gongoron go through the room step-by-step helping each other continue. Once Link finds the stairway, Gongoron finds a small hole in the wall he can fit through.

He is not seen again until the fight against the boss, Dongorongo. Here, he fights Dongorongo for the first phase, knocking it over by attacking its side repeatedly, allowing Link to get a Bombchu into its mouth. Once this is done three times and Dongorongo seemingly defeated, Gongoron runs ahead to get the Crimsonine. However, Dongorongo is not dead yet, so Link must now fight it alone. Once Link does, Gongoron is ashamed of accidentally abandoning him, though Ciela points out they could not have beaten it without his help anyways. Once Link gains the Crimsonine, Gongoron leads Link back to his house, where he and his father say their farewells to Link.

Later, once the first two pure metals are both found and a sufficient amount of time has passed, Gongoron will get a part-time job at the Goron Game on Dee Ess Island. Here, the player controls him while he goes through an obstacle course, smashing crystalline targets and making it to the end within a quick amount of time.
