- “Ya did it! Ya scared that Yook right out of the village! Now the people can rest easy and sip on their savory stew in peace. But, uh...don't ya feel a little mad about getting blown away like that? Don't ya wanna get revenge on those Yook?”
- – Island Chief, The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
The Island Chief (sometimes written simply as island chief) is the elder of the Anouki tribe living on the Isle of Frost in The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. He is the only unique-looking Anouki in the game, wearing a purple parka and having a long, white beard. When Link first meets him, the chief mishears his name as "Link-abou." After he corrects him, the chief says he may grant access to the Azurine he seeks if he helps the Anouki solve a problem. A member of the rival Yook tribe snuck over and is impersonating an Anouki in Anouki Estates, and he requests Link figure out which one it is and run him off. He also tells Link that Yook always lie.
Once Link has found that the Yook is disguised as Aroo, the chief excitedly tries to goad him into getting revenge on the Yook. Regardless of Link's choice, Ciela is eager for it, though once they leave his house she admits she finds his motivations suspicious.
If spoken to after the Azurine is obtained, he asks how it is working for him, and says that he is doing fine.
In front of his house, a Big Green Rupee is buried.
