First appearance | The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass |
Loovars are a large, purple type of fish found in The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass catchable while fishing. Their name is a play on louvar, a large type of fish with a prominent head bump. They are the largest type of fish that can be caught with a normal lure, and are powerful enough that tugging the line in specific directions is needed to avoid them getting away. They also are shown to require use of the Salvage Arm to pull them aboard the ship once reeled in, as is the case with larger fish. Once one is caught, showing it to the Old Wayfarer will prompt him to say that its rugged face reminds him of his own, and give Link the Big Catch Lure. They appear uncommonly in the Southeastern Sea and Northeastern Sea in the smaller fish shadows. According to their description, they are quite mild-mannered despite their appearance.
