Zauz
First appearance The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Houglass
Species Hylian
“You see, for generations, our ancestors lived to serve the Ocean King. They defended the Ocean King in an age when great evil lurked in the sea. My people forged our own weapons and fought in epic battles. You seek one of those great weapons. An artifact called the Phantom Sword.”
Zauz, The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Houglass

Zauz, alternatively Zauz the blacksmith, is a character from The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Houglass, living on Zauz's Island in the Northwestern Sea. He is descended from a group who served and protected the Ocean King with weapons of their own creation, implied to be the people of the Cobble Kingdom. He can be visited early in the game, at which point he bluntly tells Link it is not time for him to help yet.

Once the Ghost Ship is searched, Oshus tells Link to seek him out. Once he visits him at this time, Zauz explains who he is and that his ancestors created the Phantom Sword, the only weapon capable of defeating Bellum. Ciela eagerly asks him if they can borrow it, but he explains the original has been since lost, but he can remake it if given the three sacred metals scattered across the sea. Each one is being held by one of three tribes. He tells the two they will need two more Sea Charts from the Temple of the Ocean King, and explains the way to continue beyond the depth they last reached via draw a Triforce symbol on a specific door.

Once the three metals are given to him, he begins the process of creating it by heating the Crimsonine. He tells Link the process will take some time, so he should go pass the time somewhere else. As it so happens, Jolene has challenged Link to a duel. Once that is finished, Zauz will also be finished, giving Link the Sword Blade. It cannot be wielded yet due to its lack of handle, so he advises Link to seek out Oshus to add Sand of Hours to it.
