Max is a ghost from The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, named for Mack the carpenter. He is the first-ranking of the four knights of the Cobble Kingdom, and the last one met. He looks like the other Cobble knights, with his garb being red. His remains are buried in the southern temple on the Isle of Ruins. When Link speaks to him, he introduces himself and expresses surprise a human can break the island's seal. He then tells Link he can grant him audience with King Mutoh if he does indeed plan to defeat the monster that has invaded his temple. However, he tells Link he must also pass a trial beforehand, that being to find out the island's sacred crest and draw it on the door leading to the temple, thus solving the riddle of the stone tablet in the corridor, which he then opens. If Link speaks to him again after helping the king, he thanks him, saying they can now sleep in peace.
