First appearance The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass

Blaaz, Master of Fire, otherwise shortened to Blaaz, is the first boss in The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. He is a cloaked, fire-using magician and the boss of the Temple of Fire. He has a purple and black robe and pointy teeth. His smaller versions have red jackets.

When Blaaz is fought, he spins around and turns into three small versions of himself. These small versions surround and follow the player. They each charge a ball of fire after a period of time. If they are hit with the Boomerang, they stick to it, and if all three are hit in the same throw, they come together. However, they will not turn back into Blaaz's larger version unless they are targeted in the same order as the number of horns on each skull representing them on the map. When he is large again, he teleports around the area. If he is not attacked immediately, meteors will fall near him, which damage the player on contact with them or the fire they leave behind on the ground. His larger form will also swing his arm at the player if they are near him, knocking the player back upon contact, although this does not do damage. In his larger form, he can be damaged with a Sword. After enough damage, he teleports behind Link, and once this is done again, his larger form splits back to three. After three rounds of this Blaaz is defeated, causing him to dissolve into sand. When Blaaz is defeated, Leaf is rescued and a Chest containing a full Heart Container appears.

In the The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass manga, Blaaz appears in the Temple of Fire, where he encounters Link and Ciela.

A similarly-named elemental boss, Fraaz, appears in The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks.
