Kayo, The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass

Kayo is the deceased former assistant of Astrid in The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. Like her, he is descended from members of the Cobble civilization. He resided alongside her on the Isle of Ember until the Ghost Ship arrived at the island, resulting in him dying. When Link arrives, he can find his journal, revealing he went to the island's east tip; there, Link will find his bones. As he is the only one who knows how to open the door in Astrid's basement, Kayo's ghost must be spoken with. Ciela is initially scared, but he assures them he is not a bad ghost. Even in death, he remains intensely loyal to Astrid, treating his own death as a very small matter compared to her safety. He tells them the locations of the island's three torches that are key to opening the basement door. If spoken to again afterward, he thanks Link for keeping Astrid safe.

Once Link has completed the Temple of Fire and left the island, Astrid buries his bones where they lay and marks the location with a gravestone. Looking at it prompts his spirit to appear again and speak to Link. At this point, he tells Link the locations of two treasure maps on the island, provided he has not already found them.
