Dodongo's Cavern is the second dungeon in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. It is a volcanic, subterranean area located on the Death Mountain Trail. Dodongo's Cavern is a quarry and the main food source for the Gorons. Dodongo's Cavern is also themed after explosives, as several Bomb Flowers appear in the location, and the main item is a Bomb Bag.
Some time before Link first visited Death Mountain Trail, Darunia refused to give the Goron's Ruby to Ganondorf, who retaliated by blocking the entrance to Dodongo's Cavern with a large boulder. As a result, the Gorons had a food shortage and were starving to death. Link can only destroy the boulder by throwing a Bomb Flower down from a height, as this causes the boulder to blow up.
Two pairs of Lizalfos, each acting as a tag team, act as mini-bosses of Dodongo's Cavern, and King Dodongo is the boss fought at the end. After completing Dodongo's Cavern, Link is rewarded the Goron's Ruby by Darunia.
