- “Ha ha ha! I shall soon take my rightful place among the gods! And then the beauty of destruction will rain down upon this world! Now, I'll be taking that last piece of the Triforce from you, worm! How far you've wriggled! But at last you know your true destiny-to give me what's MINE!”
- – Yuga Ganon, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
Yuga Ganon is the final boss of The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, forming when Yuga revives Ganon and merges with him to take the Triforce of Power. Yuga Ganon has Yuga's obsession with beauty and Ganon's love of destruction, has a combination of their abilities, and wields a spear that is combined from Yuga's brush and Ganon's trident.
Yuga Ganon is formed shortly after Link first enters Lorule, with Ganon's revival and fusion taking place in the Throne Room of Lorule Castle. After he forms, however, he is quickly restrained by a black tar-like substance summoned by Princess Hilda before she teleports Link out of the castle. Yuga spends most of the game in the castle where Hilda ostensibly has him trapped. She tells him he needs to defeat him with the help of the Sages as she cannot. Once Link frees all the captured Sages and returns to the castle, Hilda tells him he had just escaped and is now running amok in the castle.
Yuga Ganon is not seen again until Link reaches the Throne Room for the second time, at which point Hilda reveals she had been planning since the beginning on stealing Hyrule's Triforce, takes the Triforce of Wisdom from Princess Zelda's portrait, and summons Yuga Ganon to take the Triforce of Courage from Link. During battle, he alternates between teleporting and attacking. He can be damaged with the Master Sword, though his right side is normally guarded by the spear. Additionally, Wall Merging is not possible due to a field of dark energy along the wall. At first, Yuga Ganon has only two attacks, which are thrusting his spear and doing a stronger, charged version of the same attack with more reach. After sufficient damage, he adds a new attack where he slashes the spear right as he teleports in. After even more damage, he adds another attack where he throws the spear in a twirling manner, teleports elsewhere, and has it return to him. The final attack he adds is to summon a sequence of energy balls over Link to come crashing down onto him.
After enough damage, Yuga Ganon keels over and Hilda demands he give her the Triforce of Power. However, he tells her he was simply using her from the start and saw Lorule as no better than Hyrule, planning to destroy it and rebuild in his image. He then turns her and the Triforce of Wisdom into a painting which he absorbs, now having two pieces. Revitalized, he begins to battle Link again with new tactics, surrounding his body with a shield made of Hilda's tarlike dark magic, making him immune to the sword. He now floats around, conjuring up an energy ball to throw at Link, which splits into many smaller projectiles upon hitting a wall. To damage him, Link must repeatedly knock the energy ball back to Yuga Ganon, eventually causing the villain to miss and get hit by it, removing his protection, after which he merges into the wall. From her portrait, Zelda then gifts Link with the Bow of Light to help. Link must merge into the wall himself, fire an arrow into Yuga Ganon's front, prompting him to block, then exiting the wall and re-entering to shoot at his exposed back, forcing him out of the wall and stunning him. From here, Link can attack him repeatedly with the sword, but he will eventually teleport away and cause the walls to erupt with bursts of purple fire which spawn Firebats to fly at Link. He reappears shortly afterward and is fought in the same way, but now after merging into the wall he does a charge at Link when he shoots his front. Link needs to leave the wall, let him pass, and remerge before hitting his back, knocking him out and letting him be damaged by the sword. After the next fire attack, Yuga Ganon begins firing two consecutive energy balls for Link to parry. When knocked into the wall a third time, he will now constantly walk towards Link and shrug off any arrows fired towards him. To hit him here, Link instead needs to fire away from him, causing the arrow to circle all the way around the room and hit him in the back, removing him from the wall and allowing Link to deal the finishing blow. Once this is done, Yuga Ganon is destroyed, Hilda is freed but barely conscious, and Link is able to restore Zelda from her portrait.
