Skullropes, formerly known as Masked Snakes,[1] are a species of lengthy snake with a skull face. They act as a stronger counterpart to Ropes.

History[edit]

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past[edit]

In The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Masked Snakes appear solely in Thieves' Town, where a group of them falls from the ceiling in the attic if an incorrect level is pulled, just like with normal Ropes in certain areas. Like Ropes, they charge at Link when they see him.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds[edit]

In The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Skullropes appear much more frequently in later-game dungeons and caves, primarily in Lorule. They gain act as stronger versions of Ropes.

The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes[edit]

In The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes, Skullropes are more plentiful than normal Ropes and appear in Gibdo Mausoleum. They have a new behavior, holding still until they see a Link, at which point they slither over and leap over him before slamming down to the ground.
