Variant of Dodongo

Kodongos, formerly known as Mini-Dodongos,[1] are a type of small, quick Dodongo that breathes long streams of fire. They do not have Dodongos' characteristic tough skin and weakness to bombs, instead preferring to simply stand out of reach for protection.

History[edit]

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past[edit]

In The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Mini-Dodongos appear in red and green, though the colors do not denote any functional difference. The red ones are found at the Mountain Tower, and the green ones are found in a dark room in the Palace of Darkness. They quickly scamper around narrow passages surrounded by small walls, usually mazes, occasionally breathing three fireballs forward which travel through the small walls until they hit the room's main wall or another obstruction.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds[edit]

In The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Kodongos act similar to before, but now breath a continuous stream of fire a short distance in front of them and do so specifically at Link. Red ones are found atop high walls in the maze of the Dark Palace and parts of Turtle Rock. Green ones are only ever found in the Advanced level of the Treacherous Tower, where they appear alongside red ones.

The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes[edit]

In The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes, red Kodongos appear in the Volcano at the fourth stage of its first level, Blazing Trail, and green Kodongos appear in a Volcano-based section of the Sky Temple and in the Scorching Zone of the Den of Trials. They act like in A Link Between Worlds, but breath fire more commonly and are shown to be able to withstand lava. To attack the one in deep lava, the Links need to wait for it to temporarily go down, revealing ground.
