Variant of Bee

Golden Bees, formerly known as Good Bees, are a type of highly rare bee with an unusual sheen. If captured and released, they fight alongside Link longer than normal bees.

History[edit]

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to Past[edit]

In The Legend of Zelda: A Link to Past, Good Bees only appear at the Ice Cave, where using the Pegasus Boots on a Great Fairy statue causes one to fly out. It can be caught in the Bug-Catching Net like normal bees, and can be sold to the Bottle Merchant for 100 Rupees. In this game, they appear blue and leave a trail of sparkles behind them.

In the Game Boy Advance reissue, Good Bees can be bought from the shop in the Village of Outcasts, though only after Link has brought one of his own to the shop.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds[edit]

In The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Golden Bees can be found randomly by cutting grass as with normal bees, but far more rarely. They can also be bought at the shop in Thieves' Town for the maximum amount of 9999 Rupees. One can also be obtained from the Mysterious Man for 888 Rupees (a play on how the Japanese words for "bee" and "eight" are both said as hachi), though he does not say what it is until Link buys it. Golden Bees are desired by the Bee Guy, and the first time Link gives him one, he awards Link with the Bee Badge; he gives 300 Rupees for further ones. Golden Bees in this game are a shiny yellow with bright blue eyes.
