Graveyards, also called cemeteries, are locations where dead bodies are laid to rest. Notable graveyards include Ikana Graveyard, Yoll Graveyard, and Royal Valley.
History[edit]
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time[edit]
In The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time the graveyard can be accessed from the northeast corner of Kakariko Village. Dampé is the gravekeeper and lives in a small hut within the Graveyard, near the entrance. When Link is a child, Dampé paces around the Graveyard at night and allows Link to participate in the Heart-Pounding Gravedigging Tour. During the daytime, there is a young boy pacing the graveyard while imitating Dampé.
The Graveyard has several gravestones, and most of them can be pushed. There are several underground areas that Link can access this way. Most tombstones reveal either a Poe enemy or a Rupee when pushed. Another gravestone covers the Royal Family's Tomb. The Composer Brothers are buried next to the tomb. If Link reads the inscription on either gravestone, the respective Composer Brother (either Flat or Sharp) emerges to attack Link. Other items found beneath their respective graves include a Piece of Heart and a Hylian Shield (or a Blue Rupee if Link already has the shield). Another grave leads down to a Fairy Fountain.
During Link's adulthood, he discovers that Dampé had died. In the Gravekeeper Diary, Link reads that Dampé is at his grave, awaiting to give his "stretching, shrinking keepsake" to someone. Dampé's grave is at the west side of the Graveyard. By entering the area below Dampé's grave, Link can chase Dampé's ghost to the end, where he rewards his keepsake to Link, the Hookshot. The Graveyard also has a high ledge that has a small room filled with torches. It is where Link can access the Shadow Temple — by lighting the torches and playing the Nocturne of Shadow.
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess[edit]
In The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess the graveyard can be accessed by entering a gate behind the Sanctuary. To the north of the graveyard is a small crawlspace that takes Link to a small area, which has a small pond and a patch of land where the deceased King Zora and Queen Rutela are buried. King Zora's tomb is originally blocked off by a Zora symbol-marked stone. There are two Poe Souls and a female Golden Ant in the graveyard. To the east, under the lake, Link can use a Water Bomb to open a shortcut to Lake Hylia.
When Link returns Prince Ralis to Kakariko Village, Queen Rutela's ghost appears to Link outside of Renado's house. She takes Link to King Zora's tomb and rewards the Zora Armor to him for saving Ralis. Queen Rutela joins the King Zora in his eternal rest. After Ralis recovers from his sickness, Link can find him near his parents' grave.
