“You saved me. I am Dimitri. You can't swim? I can even swim up waterfalls. You helped me, now I help you.”
Dimitri, The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons

Dimitri is a small, friendly Dodongo that appears as a partner in both The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages. He is slow on land but is a very fast swimmer, able to go against heavy currents and even up waterfalls. Dimitri can also be held and thrown with the Power Bracelet and defeat enemies by chomping them. In both games, Dimitri is first seen being harassed by other characters, and must be rescued by Link to join him.

History[edit]

The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons[edit]

In The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons, Dimitri has two possible first meetings with Link depending on whether or not Link has not obtained the Strange Flute from the Subrosian Dance Hall or had him for a partner in a previously-linked Oracle of Ages playthrough. If he has not, he first appears in Sunken City being surrounded by the Safety Patrol; by giving them his bombs, Link frees Dimitri, who helps him reach the Master Diver and leaves town after Link reaches Mt. Cucco. If he has, Dimitri appears earlier at Spool Swamp, being surrounded by Pig Warriors who plan to sell him to make money for the Great Moblin. To free him here, Link must pay them 30 Rupees followed by 50 more Rupees. After being freed here, Dimitri grants Link Dimitri's Flute and later helps him cross Natzu River. Both of these events are mutually exclusive.

The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages[edit]

In The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages, Dimitri appears when Link is preparing to leave Crescent Island, having been found by a pair of Tokay who mistake him for a large fish and plan to eat him. To save him, Link needs to give the Tokay some Ember Seeds, which they each before running away from the heat. Once they get back to the mainland, Dimitri leaves. If Link obtained the Strange Flute from the Shop or had Dimitri as a partner in a previously-linked Oracle of Seasons playthrough, he later appears lost in the Fairies' Woods. When Link helps him out, he grants him Dimitri's Flute and helps him through Nuun Highlands. As with the other partners, he leaves when approaching Symmetry City Ruins due to the heat.

Linked ending[edit]

Dimitri is briefly seen with the other partners in a linked ending for either game, where he bounces from offscreen in a ball then swims away.
