The Wooden Sword is a type of sword that appears in a few The Legend of Zelda games, and is the first obtainable sword in each of the games. Being made of wood, the Wooden Sword is one of the weaker swords.
History
The Legend of Zelda series
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons
In The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons, Link can obtain the Wooden Sword in the Hero's Cave after passing a series of trials. The Wooden Sword is required to enter the grove of the Maku Tree in Horon Village. Link can obtain two more powerful swords later on, the Noble Sword and the Master Sword.
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages
In The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages, Impa gives Link the Wooden Sword at the start of his adventure, after Veran possesses Nayru. As in The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons, Link can eventually obtain two stronger swords, the Noble Sword and the Master Sword.
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
In The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, at the start of the game, Rusl drops off the Wooden Sword at Link's House after he finished honing it. With the Wooden Sword, Link demonstrates various sword fighting skills on the training dummy outside of his house as the children of Ordon Village watch him. Link later uses the Wooden Sword to rescue Talo from Bokoblins in Faron Woods. Hyrule Warriors
While not a usable weapon in Hyrule Warriors, Link is seen training with a Wooden Sword and Shield in the opening cutscene. There are four badges of the Wooden Sword (Wooden Sword I, Wooden Sword II, Wooden Sword III, and Wooden Sword IV), which are designed after their The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess appearance. The Wooden Sword badges are used to add new combo attacks to characters' second weapon movesets:
- Link's Magic Rod
- Impa's Naginata
- Lana's Spear
- Zelda's Baton
- Ganondorf's Trident (Hyrule Warriors Legends, Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition)
There is also a weapon named 8-Bit Wooden Sword, which has the same design as the generic sword from the first The Legend of Zelda. Besides the name, it is unrelated to the Wooden Sword from the Oracle games and the one in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
