Torch Slugs are volcano-dwelling giant slugs that are constantly on fire.
History
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
InThe Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Torch Slugs appear in the Fire Temple and the Spirit Temple. They slide along the ground with the same sound as Like Likes, slowly charging at Link when they see him. Due to their flames, their attack cause extra damage from burns. Attacking them enough will cause their flame to be extinguished, turning them gray and vulnerable to defeat. At this point, they instead try to flee. Using the Megaton Hammer near one causes it to flip over helplessly and be extinguished immediately. In the original game, they can only be encountered by adult Link, but in Master Quest, some in the Spirit Temple can be encountered by child Link and thus pose a threat to his Deku Shield.
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
In The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Torch Slugs are found in Goron Mines and corresponding floors of the Cave of Ordeals. They commonly start on the ceiling, dropping at Link when he approaches. They also commonly appear on walls Link can climb on magnetically with the Iron Boots, and can spawn a small amount of fire around themselves at random intervals. Despite this, they are less dangerous than before, taking only a single hit to be defeated. After the Hero's Bow is obtained, they almost exclusively drop arrows when defeated.
