Ice Wizzrobes are wizards who are themed around cold-based magic. Normal Wizzrobes are sometimes shown with icy magic in games such as The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask and The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures, but these are not considered Ice Wizzrobes.
History[edit]
The Legend of Zelda series[edit]
The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords[edit]
In The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Ice Wizzrobes (referred to simply as Wizrobes, Ice)[1] teleport around, conjuring a pair of icy crystals they shoot at forked 45° angles in front of them, which can freeze Links on contact. One appears as the final obstacle in the Chambers of Insight, and they later appear in Talus Cave and Vaati's Palace.
The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap[edit]
In The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, Ice Wizzrobes, called Icerobes in Commonwealth English releases, appear at the Palace of Winds. They act similar to before, but now only shoot one fast crystal directly in front of them, making them more similar to normal Wizzrobes. They take extra damage from the Flame Lantern. The Commonwealth English release lists the Fire Rod as being a weakness in their figurine, despite that item not being implemented into the final game.
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds[edit]
In The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Ice Wizzrobes appear as normal Wizzrobes with blue hats instead of their previous ice-encrusted design. They appear primarily in the Ice Ruins, though one also appears alongside a Fire Wizzrobe in Turtle Rock and they also appear in the Treacherous Tower. They now float on a consistent level as they teleport around and can even be up in the air or over pits. They shoot slow blasts of frost that can be aimed to go upwards or downwards depending on if Link is above or below them.
The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes[edit]
In The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes, Ice Wizzrobes appear in the Ice Cavern and are the main game's sole Wizzrobe variety. They act mainly as they do in A Link Between Worlds, but now sometimes twirl after appearing to change how high they are, thus requiring a Totem position to reach them. They commonly appear over fragile ice platforms.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild[edit]
In The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Ice Wizzrobes appear all over Hyrule, though they are mostly concentrated in cold areas such as Gerudo Highlands. As with the game's other Wizzrobes, they primarily move by skipping and usually only teleport for evasion. They normally wield an Ice Rod which can be recovered upon defeating them, though sometimes they instead have a Blizzard Rod normally reserved for their more powerful counterpart, Blizzrobe.
Cadence of Hyrule: Crypt of the NecroDancer featuring The Legend of Zelda[edit]
In Cadence of Hyrule: Crypt of the NecroDancer featuring The Legend of Zelda, Ice Wizzrobes teleport and shoot in time to the beat and appear in Frozen Grotto, Hyrule Castle, and the Future World. The boss of the foremost location, Wizzroboe, is a giant Ice Wizzrobe who summons normal ones in battle. If he is one of the later bosses fought, his Ice Wizzrobes will be more powerful and wear blackish blue robes. This type also appears in the battle against Octavo.
In the future version of Hyrule included as downloadable content in the digital release and in the base version of the physical release, an armored variety called Skull Ice Wizzrobe appears.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity[edit]
In Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, Ice Wizzrobes appear as enemy captains marked by an Ice Rod icon on the map. The first time the player defeats one, they permanently gain an Ice Rod, and for every further one beaten, they gain magical crystals to recharge it. As with all Wizzrobes in the game, their long-distance attack can be perfect dodged against and their wide area attack can be halted prematurely with Remote Bombs. Ice Wizzrobes also appear in Divine Beast battles, using more powerful ice magic.
