First appearance The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (2000)

Variant of Cucco

Cucco Chicks are young farm fowl. Unlike the adult Cuccos, they usually cannot be attacked and thus do not call any others to attack Link. In some appearances, such as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Cuccos are shown instead hatching fully grown.

History[edit]

The Legend of Zelda series[edit]

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask[edit]

In The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, ten Cucco Chicks live in the Cucco Shack, where they are taken care of by Grog. Due to the Moon's impending fall, Grog is disappointed he will not be able to see them fully grown, with this being his only regret. Link can use the Bremen Mask to march around the shack and get them all to follow him, though if he stops marching, they scatter again. Once he gets all ten following him, they quickly grow up and crow in unison, and Grog rewards him with the Bunny Hood.

The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons/Ages[edit]

In both The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages, Cucco Chicks have minor appearances, following Link as soon as he enters their home. In the former game, they appear in Talon & Malon's House, and in the latter game, a shack on Crescent Island in the past. The former game also shows one in Horon Village during the scene when Din returns.

The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap[edit]

In The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, a single Cucco Chick appears atop Swiftblade School. Link can reach it and even fuse Kinstones with it while Minish-sized.

Hyrule Warriors[edit]

In Hyrule Warriors, Cucco Chicks resemble adult Cuccos and occasionally appear in battle, where one has been separated from Mama Cucco. If the player escorts the Cucco Chick back to Mama Cucco, they will call reinforcements and help the player. If the Cucco Chick flees before being reunited, Mama Cucco will fly into a blind rage and start attacking everybody. Sometimes, a Cucco Chick instead appears alone, and must be escorted around the battlefield to different feeding spots. If successful, the Cucco Chick grows into a Gold Cucco and helps the player.
