Dactos,[1] also known as Flyceratopses[2] and Ravens,[3][4] are small pterosaurian enemies that act as a stronger version of Crows.

History[edit]

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past[edit]

Dacto ALttP sprite.png

In The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Flyceratopses are found in the Dark World in the area east of the Skeleton Forest. Unlike Crows, they persistently follow Link for a large distance until defeated. Before obtaining the Red Mail, contact with one deals three hearts of damage, which combined with their speed and persistence makes them quite dangerous despite their small size. They appear as small, peach-colored pterosaurs with bird-like feet, and like the game's Crows, lack distinct pupils.

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening[edit]

Game Boy Color

In The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, Ravens are found around the outside of Turtle Rock. Likely due to graphical limitations, they do not resemble pterosaurs in the original game, instead looking like more robust crows with light-colored wings. In Link's Awakening DX, their beak and wings are colored blue. In the Nintendo Switch remake, they are redesigned to resemble their A Link Between Worlds appearance, but with an orange beak and the general shape of the game's Crows.

The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons[edit]

In The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons, Ravens are unusually encountered before Crows. A pair of them are encountered in an area of Holodrum Plains leading to Spool Swamp, and fly at Link in a somewhat curved path before flying away. Unlike Crows, they still use a blue palette.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds[edit]

In The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Dactos are found in Lorule, where they again act as a counterpart to Crows. They look and act like they do in A Link to the Past, though they are much less powerful and now have slit-like pupils.
