Moldorms, sometimes known as Mini Moldorms[1][2][3] or Mini-Moldorms[4][5] to distinguish from the boss, are recurring enemies first found in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. They are big-headed caterpillar-like creatures that usually scurry around erratically.
History
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Mini Moldorms are beige and appear in underground caves throughout the game.
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
Mini Moldorms are mostly black and appear in dungeons and caves throughout the game. In Link's Awakening DX, they have green details. The Tail Cave is themed after them, with the Tail Key having its likeness.
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons/Ages
Moldorms appear throughout both games. In Seasons, the remains of one called the Black Beast can be found on an island, and resurrected with a Mystery Seed. Despite having miniboss music, it functions as a normal Moldorm, and gives the X-Shaped Jewel when beaten.
The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords
Mini-Moldorms, known here as Tails,[6] can be randomly-generated. They are black with a pair of red eyes, a pair of golden pincers, several golden legs, and a golden hook at the end of the tail.
The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures
Mini Moldorms appear in the desert and resemble the Moldorm boss in A Link to the Past, but much smaller. Their graphics are at a much higher resolution that most graphics their size in the game. They appear to have a weak tail end visually, but in reality, they act exactly the same as the Mini Moldorm enemies from the previous games.
The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
Moldorms appear as they do in Four Swords, albeit with a single cyan eye and without the various golden protrusions. They appear primarily in dungeons and tunnels accessible via Digging Mitts. When hit with a weapon, their heads will spin around in several complete circles before they start moving again. Compared to most enemies, they have a fairly high probability of dropping a green Kinstone fragment upon defeat.
The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
Moldorms are teal with pink weak tail ends and resemble centipedes. They are also larger and move much slower. It takes three hits from the normal sword to defeat them. They first appear in the Temple of Courage.
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
Mini-Moldorms appear as they do in A Link to the Past, but are now either orange or purple depending on whether they are in Hyrule or Lorule. Both colors have a green fuzzy rim along their undersides.
